Acitivities in Chalamard vicinity

At Neufont Lake (swimming, fishing, etc.), or in Vergt (tennis), you can also hike, bike or horse-ride in the surrounding forests. All activities are available close to Chalamard Cottage.


White Périgord (Périgord Blanc)

Périgueux area: The heart of the Périgord has a huge chalky plateau overseeing the Isle and Auvézère rivers and valleys.

Périgueux, the capital city which is located in the center of this province, is the site of many architectural and historical treasures including structures that were part
of the original Gallo-Roman and medieval cities. The Saint Front cathedral as well as the many renaissance façades render the town particularly picturesque. Museums
exhibit important collections that reveal the history of Périgueux and the Périgord area. Juxtaposed with this city's beautiful parks and gardens, Périgueux provides a
wide range of traditional restaurants and markets where one can enjoy the cuisine of the Périgord.

Green Périgord (Périgord Vert)

Nontron area and the river Dronne valley: This area derives its name from the landscape's vast meadows and extensive green forests.

There, you may visit Brantôme, Bourdeilles, Puyguilhem or Mareuil castles, but also admire the prehistoric drawings of Villars Cave…


Crimson Périgord (Périgord Pourpre)

Bergerac area: The crimson colour is derived from this area's well-known vineyards.

Tiregand and Monbazillac castles may show you their treasures. You will probably admire the Beaumont-du-Périgord, Montpazier, Villefranche-du-Périgord and Buisson de Cadouin "bastides", as well as Biron and Beynac castles…


Black Périgord (Périgord Noir)

Sarlat area: Immortalized by the oaks that embellish the Dordogne and Vézère rivers and valleys, the Black Périgord is known for its exquisite truffles.
